May 2023 – After persistent complaints that
blasting operations from a nearby mine in a rural location were destroying
residential dwelling structures, Pison Consulting was engaged to measure
vibration levels from the mine. Pison deployed its experts, who set up state-of-the-art
machinery that monitors both vibration and sound levels from mines. This was a
relief to the residents because the experts from Pison were willing to listen
to their complaints and were seen constantly measuring the blasting impact levels
for extended periods. Pison produced an independent report which showed that
the company largely met acceptable vibration levels, though there were days
when noise and vibration levels exceeded these thresholds. The mining company
accepted responsibility for the anomaly and agreed to use less destructive
blasting methods and to continue monitoring the impact in future.
